Wise Guys! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!

Merry Christmas! I have thought a lot about these two words lately. When people say "Merry Christmas", what does that mean exactly? Well, to some I would think that it means shopping, parties with family or friends. Or maybe to some it is just a simple greeting like "Hi! How are you?"

So let's break the words down. Webster's definition describes merry as happiness or causing joy and happiness. Webster describes Christmas as a Christian holiday that is celebrated on December 25 in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ.

To me it means a lot of things to me. It means happy birthday to our Lord and Savior. I would like to say Merry Christmas all year round. Because Jesus IS the reason for EVERY season. So here is wishing you a Merry Christmas all year long. What does "Merry Christmas" mean to you?

This Sunday, December 28, 2014, your preschooler will learn that:
Wise men follow a special star to Jesus, to give Him gifts and worship Him. Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11

MEMORY VERSE - God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. John 3:16
BASIC TRUTH - Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
KEY QUESTION - Why is Jesus special?
BOTTOM LINE - Jesus is God’s Son.

UPCOMING EVENTS

It's All About Humphrey! Or Is It? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!

I read a book to our preschoolers recently, Humphrey's First Christmas by Carol Heyer. It's a Christmas story that we all know however this one was told by a camel, Humphrey. He tells the story about his long cold journey to Bethlehem. This camel is cantankerous, humorous, and lovable. He has lost his favorite blanket and schemes to find a new one. He is convinced that the chests he is carrying are rocks. He complains the entire trip. His feet hurt. He is cold. The chests are heavy on his bare back. Basically thinking of himself and still complaining after his owner gave him a new blanket. But at the end of their journey he is drawn to the love surrounding of a baby. Baby Jesus! He finds himself selflessly giving his new blanket to the baby.

I explained to the preschoolers that we can't always think about ourselves like Humphrey did in the beginning of the book. This book was a great example of what it means to let go of our personal comforts, giving of ourselves, and opening our hearts. I enjoyed reading this book to them. There were lots of giggles. It led to some great discussions about being nice to others and making good choices.

This Sunday, December 21, 2014, your preschooler will learn that:
God sends angels to tell the shepherds about Jesus, and they run to worship Him.
Luke 2:6-18

MEMORY VERSE - God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. John 3:16
BASIC TRUTH - Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
KEY QUESTION - Why is Jesus special?
BOTTOM LINE - Jesus is God’s Son.

Why Is He So Special? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!

Here is a simple idea to bring this week's story home while you are out running errands - Name one specific Christmas decoration before you begin to drive. It can be anything! A Christmas tree, snowman, lights . . . whatever you want it to be. Every time you see that decoration, point it out and together say, “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” After all, Christmas is all about Jesus’ birthday! Without Jesus there would be no Christmas. He’s that special! Why is Jesus special? Jesus is God’s Son.

This Sunday, December 14, 2014, your preschooler will learn that:
Jesus, God’s only son, is born in a stable. Luke 2:1-7

MEMORY VERSE - God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. John 3:16
BASIC TRUTH - Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
KEY QUESTION - Why is Jesus special?
BOTTOM LINE - Jesus is God’s Son.

Start A Traditon Today! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!
Christmas! It’s the best time of year. The wonder. The delight. The pure joy! Oh, Christmas is just so much fun!
If it's your child's first Christmas or it is their 6th. It’s the time when Christmas traditions are formed, when we figure out just how we want to celebrate the birth of our Savior now that we have a child in the house. As you plan your December, remember the why of the Christmas season. It’s not just about cute outfits, fun times, and family gatherings.

It’s about a birth—the birth of a child who would one day save the world. How are you planning to teach your preschoolers about that most important part? Where does that fit into your traditions? Maybe you’ll introduce your first child-friendly Nativity into your house. As your child plays with each piece, tell them the true story of Christmas. Tell them about that night long ago when a special baby, God’s Son, was born. Tell them how much God loves them, and you.
Merry Christmas!

This Sunday, December 7, 2014, your preschooler will learn that:
God sends an angel to tell Mary she will have a special baby named Jesus. Luke 1:26-33, 38, 46

MEMORY VERSE - God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. John 3:16
BASIC TRUTH - Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
KEY QUESTION - Why is Jesus special?
BOTTOM LINE - Jesus is God’s Son.

Have You Counted Your Blessings? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I hope that you are able to spend time with family and friends today. I hope today brings you lots of joy and a lot of fun memories to last a lifetime. I am not sure why this childhood song came into my head today but I will share with you the chorus..... Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God has done!
I am grateful for each of you. You are a huge blessing to me.  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Here is fun activity to do with your preschooler to help with this week's lesson: Grab a dry erase marker and stand in front of a mirror with your child. Look at your faces. Now take the marker and add a fancy mustache or a beard to your reflection by drawing on the mirror. What about some long eyelashes or big red lips? Have fun with this! Each time you want to start over just wipe away your drawings from the mirror and begin again. It’s fun to see what you would look like with purple hair! Talk about how God made every person different and special and He loves us all!

Thankful Much? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!

The month of November we will be focusing on saying, "Thank You, God."  I love to hear preschoolers say their prayers because they are always thanking God for everything. "Thank You God for my sister. Thank You God for my mommy and daddy. Thank You God for my cat. Thank You God for....." They are so sweet and so honest. I remember thinking when my children were little, I hope that they never forget to be thankful for everything.

When is the last time you said “Thank You” to God? Yesterday at the dinner table? Or was it last night before bed? Did your toddler hear you thanking Him? Does she know you are thankful, too?
Model a thankful heart this month and watch your child join in the fun while growing in gratitude. You could even start a “Thankful Tree” on the kitchen wall where you draw or write something you’re thankful for on a colorful leaf. When you add it to the wall, you say “Thank You, God” in front of your whole family.

This Sunday, November 2, 2014, your preschooler will learn that:

God made the water and we are thankful.  Genesis 1:6-10

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

Here is a fun activity that you can do with your preschooler to help with this week's story. Find five medium-size rocks, clean them up, and have them ready for bath time. Once your child is in the tub, tell him to close his eyes while you put the rocks in the water with him. His job is to find the rocks! Want to make it even harder? Add bubble bath when you run the bath water. Your child will have to feel around for the rocks to find them. Ask him, “Who helps you do big things?” and encourage him to say, “God helps me do big things!” Continue to look for big things he can do while running errands. Help you at the grocery store, that’s a big thing. Entertain a younger sibling, that’s a really big thing! Or even drop the books into the return slot at the library. I Need Help Doing BIG Things! Family Plus - PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

The month of October we will be focusing on God is always there to help us do big things. Some times us grown ups think that these preschool lessons are just for preschoolers, we can not be more wrong. He’s there to help us every step of the way too. Isn’t that awesome? It gets me excited just thinking about it!

Remember when you were a kid and you COULDN’T WAIT to be a grown-up? You were going to stay up late and eat all the chocolate chip cookies you wanted. Well, you can do those things now, but being a grown-up is more than that isn’t it? Being a grown-up means you have to deal with some pretty big things. There’s the mortgage, work, family and let’s not forget diapers. The cost of diapers alone is enough to make you pull your hair out!
There are many, many big things we encounter as grown-ups, but we need to remember that we’re not facing them alone. No! Right by our side is the great, big God who made us.

This Sunday, October 5, 2014, your preschooler will learn that :

God helps Samuel find David, who is the new chosen king. 1 SAMUEL 16:1-13

MEMORY VERSE - “We have our Lord our God to help us.” 2 Chronicles 32:8, NLT
BASIC TRUTH - God loves me.
KEY QUESTION - Who helps you do big things?
BOTTOM LINE - God helps me do big things.

He Always Has What You Need - Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

Exodus 13 tells us the life of Moses. It gives a clear example of navigating through this difficult dilemma of Moses life. God had led the children of Israel to exactly where He wanted them to be. We know that God is constantly leading us day and night. This is a great story to remind us that God's got it! It is important to remember that God promises to always provide what we need in our journey.

Here is a fun activity that you can do with your preschooler to help with this week's story. Pour some bubble bath in the tub this week and pretend the bubbles are big, fluffy clouds. Show your child how to separate the bubbles into individual “clouds.” Count how many “clouds” you have. Talk about how God used one big cloud to show Moses the right way to go. God loved Moses and He loves you too! God has the power to show us the right way to go, just like He did for Moses.
This Sunday, September 21, 2014, your preschooler will learn that :

God uses fire and clouds to show Moses and the Israelites the right way to go. EXODUS 13:21-22

Each time you get in the car tell your child, "We're going to the [name of place]. God is with us at the [name of place] because 'God is with you wherever you go.' Joshua 1:9." Keep doing this all month long, and before you know it, your child will truly believe that God is with them wherever they go!

I Don't Have It. Do You Think You Do? - Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

Have you ever been in a situation where you’re thinking to yourself: I’ve so got this. No problem. It’s all under control. Then, out of the blue, one kid starts puking while the other throws himself on the ground over the fact that he wanted a Spiderman sticker and got Batman? Well, maybe nothing that extreme has happened (yet), but we’ve all been in situations that have spiraled completely out of our control.
What we forget is that we never really had control in the first place. God did. God does. God’s got it. The creator of the universe cares about you and me, and He’s got it. He has the power to be involved in every aspect of our lives. He loves us and wants to help us. Isn’t that cool? Even in the craziness called parenting, God’s got it.

Here is a fun activity that you can do with your preschooler to help with this week's story.
Go outside and see just how much power you and your preschooler I have! How fast can you run? How many push-ups can you do? How high can you jump? How long can you hang from the bar on the swing set? How high can you swing? Do you have enough power to climb a tree? Whew! The options for testing your power are endless, but there is an end to your power. Not with God’s power, though! Tell your child that God’s power is bigger than anything we could ever imagine and it NEVER runs out! God’s got it!

This Sunday, September 7, 2014, your preschooler will learn that :
Elijah prays to the one true God, to prove to the king, who has a fake idol, that God
is the only one who can answer prayers. 1 KINGS 18:1-39

MEMORY VERSE - “God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9, NLT
BASIC TRUTH - God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
KEY QUESTION - Who’s got it?
BOTTOM LINE - God loves me.

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in guiding your child spiritually.

Basic Truth Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

Here is a fun activity to help wrap up our August focus. Take some sidewalk chalk and draw a hopscotch board on the sidewalk or driveway. Draw three stick people with smiling faces in the next single square. Repeat this throughout the rest of your hopscotch board . . . stick person, heart, three stick people. When you play say, “God made me” when you jump on the single stick person. Say, “God loves me” when you jump on the heart. And say, “Jesus wants to be my friend forever” when you jump on the three stick people.

To The Bottom Of My Feet - Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

It is so hard to believe that another school year is about to start. This Sunday we will be celebrating the wonderful year we just had. Come celebrate with us and hear stories about how God has transformed lives of preschoolers, children and students.

This Sunday is promotion Sunday. I sent out cards to let you know where you class has moved to. If you did not get a card, don't worry we will have posters to help and I will be around to help you too.

For the month of August, our preschoolers will focus on all of our Basic Truths: God made me; God loves me; and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Each story will make each of these truths alive as we lead preschoolers to discover the stories of creation, Abraham, the Lost Sheep and Zacchaeus.

Every week I will suggest an activity for you and your child to do to bring the stories home. Here is this week’s activity -
Grab a bucket of water and head outside. You’re going to make water hand prints! Simply dip your hands in the water and press them onto dry steps, driveway, sidewalk, or garage floor. Look closely at your hand prints and watch as the sun slowly dries them up. Ask your child who made his hands. The answer, of course, is God made them, because God made me!

This Sunday, August 3, 2014, your preschooler will learn that :

God made us! He made everything from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet. And because God made us, He loves us! - GENESIS 1:26-27

What Are You Passionate About? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

The month of June and July, your preschooler will be learning that the Bible is the treasure. It’s better than gold or silver or even chocolate chip cookies. I mean, let’s face it: your child is probably more passionate about chocolate chip cookies than gold right now. Food, toys, and cuddles—that’s what preschoolers are passionate about.

What about you? What are you passionate about? Your job? Your family? Your God? Don’t worry. You can say all of them. You can be passionate about many things. All that means is that when you are doing that particular thing, you are all in. You’re not striving for mediocrity. You want to be the best at it, at that time.

Isn’t that what our preschoolers need to see—their greatest role model being passionate about them, about God, about what God has called them to do? Be passionate about the Bible this month with your preschoolers. Help them discover all the treasure it holds.

Here is your weekly activity that you can do with your preschooler to help them understand the story:
While you are driving around with your preschooler be intentional about picking out things for them to notice. There are many things you can review, so pick the one that works for you! * When you see a person walking down the street, point at the window and say, “Jesus wants to be his friend forever!” * Look in the rear-view mirror each time you get in the car and say, “You are wonderfully made by God!” * When you pass a church, say, “Church! We are a part of God’s BIG family! * While running errands, ask your child to look for ways to help others. He can carry groceries, pick up trash or hold the door for someone. The Bible truly is better than gold and it teaches us so many wonderful things!

This Sunday, June 8, 2014, your preschooler will learn that :
The Bible is better than gold and it teaches us that we are wonderfully made by God!

They Were Surprised But I Am Not! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!
Here’s an activity you can do with your preschooler to help bring this week's story home.

Name people who tell your child about God and Jesus. Sing songs about Jesus. Remind your child that many people love her and help her learn about God and Jesus.
Play a guessing game. Describe a place or person (church, home, grandparent, friend) and ask your preschooler to tell you where he can learn about God and Jesus or who tells him about God and Jesus.

This Sunday, May 25, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:

Peter and John Preached Based on Acts 3:1-10,16
One day Peter and John were walking up to the temple. They saw a man who could not walk. Every day someone carried him there so he could ask people for money. When he saw Peter and John entering, he asked them for help.
Peter and John looked at the man. “Look at us,” they said. The man looked at them expecting to get some money. But Peter said, “I do not have any money, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus, get up and walk!”
Peter took him by the hand, and the man stood up. His feet became strong. He stood and walked into the temple with Peter and John. He was walking and leaping and praising God.
The people recognized the man. They knew he was the one who would lie at the gate and ask for money. They were surprised by what had happened to him.
Peter and John said, “We did not make this man walk by our own power. He was made well by the power of Jesus.”

Christ Focus: Tell others about the hope of Jesus!
Life Point: Tell everyone about the hope of Jesus.
Life Verse: God loved us and sent His Son. 1 John 4:10

David Wrote a Song of Thanks
Based on Psalm 138:1-8
David was the king of Israel. He was a man who loved God. David wanted to say thank you to God. These are some of the words David wrote:

Whenever I pray to You, You listen and answer. You have made me strong.
All the leaders of the earth will praise You, God. You are mighty and strong.

Home Again! Home Again! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

I love this week's bringing the story home challenge. I am going to do this myself with my family even though they are not preschool age.  As a family, review sign language for “God loves me” (one finger pointing up to God/arms crossing chest/pointing to self). During the week, when two family members see each other for any reason, see who can remember first to sign “God loves me!”
If your child is in any kind of extra events please let me know. I love going to ball games of any kind, recitals, or award ceremonies. Just let me know the dates and I will do my best to attend.

This Sunday, May 11, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:

Jesus Used Parables to Teach
Based on Luke 15:11-32
Jesus often used a story or a parable to teach people how much God loved them. One day Jesus told a parable about a father and his sons. Jesus said, “A man had two grown sons. The younger son said, ‘Give me my share of the family money.’
“The father was sad, but he divided the money between his sons. Soon after he received his money, the younger son left. He moved to a faraway country. He began to make wrong choices and do many wrong things.
“After a while, the son had spent all of his money. He had no food to eat or clothes to wear. Finally a man gave him a job caring for pigs. He was so hungry he even thought about eating the pigs’ food. The son remembered his father’s house. He knew his father’s house had plenty of food to eat. He decided to go home and work for his father.
“The son went home. When he was still far from the house, his father saw him. The father ran to the son and hugged and kissed him. The son said, ‘Father, I have done wrong things. I should no longer be your son.’ The father did not listen. He called to his helpers, ‘Quick! Bring clothes and sandals for my son. We will cook a big dinner and celebrate because my son has come home.’ The people began to celebrate. The father was happy his son was home again.”

Christ Focus:
Jesus’ love for us gives us hope.
Life Point: We have hope because we know God forgives.
Life Verse: God loved us and sent His Son. 1 John 4:10

Questions:What did the younger son want from his father?
How was the son welcomed home?

Ther Reason For Hope! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

This week to bring the story home, talk with your child about times that God has answered specific prayers for your family. Remind her that even though sometimes we don’t get the answer we hope for, that God always wants what is best for us. Begin a prayer journal. Write down prayer requests made at each devotion time, and then be sure to record God’s answers as they come.

Also as you go about family activities, mention Jesus’ love for your child. Say: “Jesus loves you. He loves Mommy and Daddy. Jesus loves your friend Bobby.
The earlier we train our little ones at a young age to pray for their friends or family when they are sick or maybe just not so nice to them, will make it a priority for them as they get older.

This Sunday, May 4, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:

Jesus Performed Miracles Based on Matthew 8:1-13
Jesus had been on a mountain, teaching people about God’s love. As He came down the mountain, a man came up to Him. The man had a serious skin disease. “Jesus,” the man said, “if You are willing, You can make me well.”
“I am willing,” Jesus said. The man was well! Jesus told the man to go show himself to the priest and give an offering to God.
Jesus traveled on to a town called Capernaum. As He entered the town, a soldier came to Him and pleaded, “Please help my servant. He is sick and hurts very badly.” Jesus told the man that He would come and heal his servant.
“Jesus, You do not have to come to my house,” the man said. “Just speak the word, and my servant will be better.”
Jesus was amazed by the man’s words. Jesus knew the man believed that He could help his servant. “Go home,” Jesus said. “Since you believed, your servant will be better.” Jesus helped people and gave them hope.

Christ Focus: Jesus cares about us and wants to help us.
Life Point: Jesus wants to give people hope.
Life Verse: God made us special. Psalm 8:5

Questions:
How did Jesus help the first man?
How did Jesus know the soldier believed that Jesus could help his servant?

Yes! You Can Have Hope Too! Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

Or pick up our grocery list for our food pantry at church.Together, say the Life Verse and write it on labels to attach to each food item to be shared. Talk with your child about how God gives hope and how your family can help.

This Sunday, April 27, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:

David and Mephibosheth Based on 2 Samuel 9:1-13
David was the king of Israel. He remembered Saul, the king before him, and Saul’s son Jonathan. Because of Jonathan, David wanted to show kindness to any members of Saul’s family. Jonathan had been David’s good friend.
David learned that Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth, was still living. Mephibosheth had two hurt feet.
David sent for Mephibosheth. David said, “Do not be afraid. I want to show you kindness because of your father, Jonathan. I give you back all your grandfather Saul’s fields. You will eat at my table every day.”
So David returned all of the fields to Mephibosheth. He had servants to work the fields for food. But Mephibosheth ate with David every day. Mephibosheth had hope because David showed kindness to him.

Christ Focus: Jesus came to save us.
Life Point: Everyone can have hope.
Life Verse: God made us special. Psalm 8:5

Why did Mephibosheth need help?
Why did David want to help him?

Jesus Is Alive! Based on Matthew 26:36–28:10
Jesus had been arrested and died on the cross.
Very early in the morning three days later, Mary Magdalene and another Mary went to the place where Jesus was buried. They were sad because Jesus had died. As they got near the tomb, they felt a strong earthquake. An angel had come from heaven. He rolled back the stone from the tomb and was sitting on it. He was very bright and dressed all in white.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus. He is not here! He is alive. Look and see where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘Jesus is alive! You will see Him soon.’ ”
The women felt very happy. They began to run to tell the disciples what they learned. Suddenly they saw Jesus. Jesus said, “Good morning!”
The women came up to Jesus and began to worship Him. They were very happy to see Jesus. Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My disciples to go to Galilee and they will see Me there.”

Do You Want Rest? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

This weeks activity might be a little difficult for some us, but I believe if you will take the time and do it, you will be pleased with the outcome.

Commit to a specific time this week that your family will rest. No work, practices, or technology allowed. Instead, relax and enjoy the time together. Talk about how God wants us to rest. Thank Him for this time.

This Sunday, April 6, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:

Moses Rested Based on Exodus 31
God had spoken to Moses and had given him the special rules for all the people to follow. God had told Moses His plans to make a special place to worship Him. God told Moses that He had chosen two special men to help build the tabernacle.
Then God spoke to Moses again. “Tell the people that they must have a day of rest,” God said. “This day of rest will help other people to know that My people are special.” God told Moses that the day of rest was to be a holy day. People could work on six days, but the seventh day would be a day of rest.
“The day of rest is to be kept by My people and all the families that come after them,” God said. “It is a special sign between Me and them because I made the world in six days and rested on the seventh.”
After God spoke to Moses, God gave him two stone tablets with the Ten Commandments written on them.

Christ Focus: Jesus gives us rest.
Life Point: God said to rest after working.

Are You Happy Happy Happy? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents!

I love this week's idea to help bring the Bible story to life. Your preschooler will love this too. Be sure to take pictures so it will be a forever memory. Build an indoor tent together in your home. Encourage your child to bring in special items to decorate the tent. Have your family devotion inside the tent and talk about how the people worked together to build the tabernacle.

This Sunday, March 30, 2014, your preschooler will learn about this story:
The Tabernacle Was Built Based on Exodus 36–39
Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and the other workers to get everything the people had brought to build the tabernacle. The people continued to bring offerings. The workers said to Moses, “The people are bringing too much. We have enough to build the tabernacle.” So Moses told the people to stop bringing their offerings.
The workers began to build the tabernacle. First they made 10 curtains from linen with blue, purple, and red yarn. The curtains were joined with gold clasps. The workers made a tent from animal skins. The tent was joined together with clasps of bronze. The tabernacle was built from planks of wood joined together with pegs.
Bezalel built a special box called the ark of the covenant. The box was built from wood and overlaid with gold. Bezalel formed poles so the priests could carry the ark.
The workers built tables and altars. They made lamps and utensils. They made special clothes for the priests to wear in the tabernacle. They used everything the people had brought for an offering. Moses looked at everything the workers had made. They made it just as God had said.

Christ Focus:
Jesus gave to help others.
Life Point: People can give and help to do God’s work.
Life Verse: Be happy when you give. 2 Corinthians 9:7

Questions:
How were the offerings of the people used to build the tabernacle?
What was put into the ark of the covenant?

Do You Have A Good Attitude? Family Plus PS

Hi Parents and Grandparents of Preschoolers!

It is important to start teaching our children at a young age to work together with a good attitude. To help teach them that we can do things with a good attitude, here is one simple activity that we we can help them understand a little more  - Choose a simple recipe for a favorite treat (such as trail mix). Assign each child the responsibility of adding an ingredient to the bowl. Talk about how important each item is to making the recipe taste good and how you are working together to build the snack. Remind your child that the people in the Bible worked together to build the tabernacle.

This week, Sunday, March 23, 2014, your child will hear this story:

God Planned the Tabernacle
Based on Exodus 35:4-35
God spoke to Moses. “I want you to build a tabernacle (tent church) where My people can worship Me,” God said. “Take an offering from all the people. Tell them what to bring to build the tabernacle.”
Moses spoke to the people. “We must bring an offering to help build the tabernacle,” he said. Moses told the people what to bring.
The people listened to Moses. Some people brought all kinds of gold jewelry and gemstones. Some people brought red, blue, and purple yarn; fine linen; and animal skins. Other people brought wood, oil, and spices. Every part of the offering was important for building the tabernacle.
God chose special men, Bezalel and Oholiab. These men were able to work with all the yarn, linen, animal skins, wood, gold, and gemstones. They would design and make everything for the tabernacle. They were also able to teach others how to do the work. God had a good plan for building His tabernacle.

Christ Focus: Jesus wants people to work together.
Life Point: God wants people to work together.
Life Verse: Work together with a good attitude. Ephesians 6:7

Questions:
What are some things the people brought to help build the tabernacle?
Who made the plans for how the tabernacle would be built?
