FAMILY PLUS Preschool - September 22

Hi Parents and Grandparents,

Last week our parent challenge was to make cookies and shape them into the letter J for Jesus. Sunday, a preschooler ran up to me with a smile on his face and a bag of cookies. Cookies shaped like the letter J. He was very excited to tell me about him and his grandmother making them. They were both very happy to share them with me. What a beautiful memory of the two of them have now with making cookies and talking about Jesus. I saw him Wednesday night, he was still talking about making me those cookies. I want to challenge you to do these parent challenges. I know it can be difficult at times with our lives being so busy. You will not be disappointed that you took the time to do so. Memories last a life time. It is the little things that they will remember the most.

This Sunday, September 23, 2012, your preschooler will hear this story -

Philip Taught the Ethiopian Acts 8:4-8,26-40
Bible Story Brief -
• Philip was telling people about Jesus in Samaria. The people there listened and saw Philip heal sick people.
• While he was in Samaria, an angel told Philip to go to the desert road that went from Jerusalem to Gaza.
• As Philip walked along the road, he saw a chariot coming. The man riding in the chariot had been to Jerusalem to worship God. Now he was on the long trip back to Ethiopia. Philip ran up to the chariot.
• Philip listened and heard the Ethiopian man reading a Bible scroll. Philip asked,“Do you understand what you are reading?”
• The man answered, “No.” He invited Philip to sit beside him and explain the words.
• Philip climbed into the chariot. Philip said that the words were about Jesus. The man did not know about Jesus. Philip told him the good news about Jesus. The man listened to Philip.
• The Ethiopian man saw some water along the side of the road. He said, “Look! Here is water!” Philip baptized the Ethiopian man in the water. The Ethiopian man went home very happy.
• Philip traveled to other places to tell people about Jesus.

Bible Verse - Jesus said,“The Bible tells about Me.” John 5:39
Life Application - I can explore what the Bible says about Jesus.
Bible Truth - The Bible tells us about Jesus.

Your parent challenge this week - Provide an empty box large enough for your child to sit in. Invite your child to decorate the box with crayons to make it look like a chariot. As your child sits in the box, open your Bible to Acts 8 and tell the Bible story.
