FAMILY PLUS Preschool - June 8

Hi Parents and Grandparents,

The New Generation Team has been hard at work this week. We have been putting final touches on Summer Nights For Families Cookout. SNFF will be this Sunday, June 10th at 6:30. I hope you plan to attend. It will be fun for all ages. We have food, volleyball, corn hole, and new this year, a photo booth to have pictures with your family. We will also have things planned specifically for your preschooler like a bubble station, mister tent, and a place to draw with chalk.

Summer Jam starts this Monday, June 11th, from 9 to 12:30 with lunch included. Ages 4 years to 5th grade. We have some changes this year that your child will enjoy.

See you Sunday night!

This Sunday, June 10, 2012, your preschooler will hear this story -

Joshua and Caleb Chose to Obey God  (Numbers 13–14)
Bible Story Brief -
• God promised the people of Israel a new home in the land of Canaan. God told Moses to choose 12 men to go look at the land. Joshua and Caleb were two of the men.
“Go see if the people are strong or weak. See if the towns have high walls around them. See if the land is good for growing food,” Moses told the men. “Bring back some of the fruit from the land.”
• The 12 men traveled through Canaan. They looked at many of the towns. The men gathered fruit from the land.
• The 12 men were gone for 40 days. When they came back, they reported, “We went into the land of Canaan. The land is good for growing food.” • Some of the men said, “The people who live in Canaan are stronger and
bigger than we are. The towns have tall walls around them.” Caleb said,
“We should go and take the land. We can do it.” • The people became frightened and angry. Joshua and Caleb said, “The
land is a good place to live. God wants us to go into Canaan. He will give the land to us. Do not be afraid. God is with us and will help us. We should obey Him.”

Bible Verse - We show love to God by obeying Him. 1 John 5:3
Life Application - I can choose to do what God says.
Bible Truth - I can choose to obey God.

Your parent challenge this week - When at the grocery store, show your child the grapes in the produce section. If possible, buy some grapes to enjoy at home. Serve the grapes as a bedtime snack one night. Say: “I remember a Bible story that includes grapes.” At bedtime, open your Bible to Numbers 13 and briefly tell the Bible story. Refer to the Bible story on the weekly take home page, as needed.
