FAMILY PLUS Update - May 12

This weeks Bible story reminds us all just how important it is to talk to our family about God and Jesus. My brother, Butch, helped lead me to Christ when I was a teenager.  Just like this weeks story about Timothy's family, my brother talked to me about how important it is to read the Bible and that the Bible will help you understand more about God and Jesus. He would also encourage me to do things that are right. I will be forever grateful that he did.

This Sunday May 15, 2011
Each age group's story is the same this week. I have simplified each age level.

Bible Story: Timothy Learned About God. Acts 16:1-3; 2 Timothy 1:1-5; 2:14-17
Paul was a missionary who traveled from place to place. He told people about God and Jesus. One day, Paul met a young man named Timothy. Paul heard people say good things about Timothy. They said Timothy loved God and Jesus.

Paul asked Timothy to help him tell others about Jesus. Timothy traveled with Paul. They talked to many people, telling them about Jesus and and about God. They helped start new churches so more people could learn what the Bible said about God and Jesus.

After he left Paul, Timothy received a letter from Paul. Paul wrote" "I am praying for you. I wish I could see you again. I remember how much you loved God, and I know how you want to tell other people about Jesus."

In the letter, Paul reminded Timothy of how Timothy had learned from the Bible when he was a boy: " Your mother, Eunice and your grandmother Lois taught you about God. Since your were a child, you have learned from the Bible. Keep doing the things you know are right. The Bible is an important book. The Bible will help you understand about God and learn about Jesus. All that the Bible says if form God. The Bible tells us what God wants us to do. The Bible teaches us how to live and make the right choices. The Bible can help everyone."
